What are the Steps to Getting a Medical Marijuana Card?

This information may sound overwhelming but we will be with you throughout the whole process making sure that you go through each step with ease. You can expect the entire process from start to finish to take about 2 to 3 weeks, with most of the period being you waiting for the card to arrive in the mail.


Step 1: The Appointment

In step 1 of the medical marijuana card process, you are going to have to first have an appointment with a healthcare provider and second fill out an application. During the appointment you are going to discuss your condition with your doctor and what you think medical marijuana can assist you with. It’s important to keep in mind that not every doctor is registered with the Florida cannabis program and will not be able to approve you for medical marijuana. However, this is not a problem as you can set up an appointment with any of our doctors at Green Health Consulting LLC. We are all cannabis program registered and able to help you. After getting approval for the treatment from your doctor you will then be given a patient I.D. number that will allow you to access the online application.


Step 2: The Application

Once you have the patient I.D. number you can access the application. The application will ask for general information and information about your condition. While you are filling this out your doctor will add you to the Medical Marijuana Use Registry that adds you to the state list and has information about your condition and recommended marijuana dosage. Once all of this is submitted you will have to wait until the State of Florida approves your application and emails you.


Step 3: Receiving the Card

If you have made it to step 3, congratulations! This means that you have been approved to use medical marijuana for your condition and have gotten the okay to go ahead and purchase it. You can expect to get your medical marijuana card in the mail soon; however, in the meantime, you may purchase medical marijuana with the email as proof of a card. Something to remember when going to dispensaries is to bring a photo I.D. with you. You will not be able to purchase medical marijuana without proof of who you are. You are also going to need to be careful to either always have the email on your or have your card on you when traveling in the state with medical marijuana. This is so you do not get into any legal trouble as marijuana is not approved to use recreationally.
